So anyone who follows this blog knows I’m an avid fan of the YSL Touché Éclat Radiance Touch highlighter but there’s a new kid on my fav block and it’s knocked my YSL love off its perch.
I have dam annoying dark circles under my eyes. They’ve been there since the year dot, they’re hereditary (thanks Dad) and the ping me off big time. Hence the daily need to hide them.
I’ve tried all sorts of concealers and all sorts of techniques to hide them as best as I can but when my dark circles are married to my under eye wrinkles, there’s a tonne of problems to hide! I find concealer a pain, regardless of which one I try. Setting it with powder just makes my wrinkles look like those on a Sharpei puppy and leaving it unset just means it creases into not so cute little rivers of product.
Then it was YSL’s Touche Eclat to the rescue… until the Chanel Éclat Lumiere pushed it off its winning pedestal.
The pen comes with a brush at the business end and you turn the other end to push the product through the brush bristles. I find that a little annoying and wasteful because I only need a little each morning to cover the dark circles so I’m wasting a fair bit sadly. Perhaps the price I pay for such a great product though.
I’ve found this amazing product is fluid enough to move it where you need it to be. It’s a lovely lightweight formula that glides on effortlessly. It doesn’t separate on the skin (that was a problem with the YSL Touché Éclat) and that’s a big deal for me because my eyes weep slightly pretty much nonstop (yes another annoying trait of my aging eyes).
In terms of creasing, I found the sweet spot. Too much (and that applies to any concealer or highlighter really) and it will crease but by applying just enough to fade the darkness, it sits beautifully without forming rivers in my wrinkles.
It stays put for ages too and rarely needs a touch up (what a bonus because heaven knows I hate touch ups!) and it comes in three shades so it’s fairly easy to find a good match for most complexions.
On the downside, as I mentioned, I wish it didn’t come with a brush tip because I find myself wasting too much of it. I like to clean all my brushes with every use, especially brushes used near my eyes so cleaning off excess product every day is a bit heartbreaking. There’s 1.2mL in the tube so we’ll see how long that lasts with daily use.
It’s also a bit on the spendy side at around $65 so even more reason to be frustrated with any wasted product.
Even with all that said, this is my current HG dark circle cover up love and it’s staying right in my makeup bag to be used every day. Love, love, love!
I’d love to hear about your favourite under eye concealer and why you love it so much. Please comment below and share your thoughts.
Smiles and hugs,
